Home Front Day

Four museums located off the Marietta Square will host a family day event entitled "Into the Storm: Marietta During the Civil War" on Saturday, November 12 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Tickets for the event are $25 per adult with one child admitted free with each adult ticket.  Individual tickets for additional student aged children are available for $5 each.  Tickets may be purchased at any of the four museums and the event is rain or shine.

The Marietta Museum of History, the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum, the Marietta-Cobb Art Museum, and the Root House Museum will have special presentations and tours on the November 12 family day as part of their observance of the Civil War Sesquicentennial which begins this year and runs through 2015. 

The Family Day will feature a Civil War Homefront Tour, a cooking demonstration, chores and preparing a care package for a Confederate solider at the Root House Museum.  Re-enactors portraying the experiences of soldiers will take place at the Marietta Museum of History, while period music and dance demonstrations along with guided tours will be available at the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum.  The Marietta-Cobb Art Museum will provide craft-making for students.
