The Yankees Are Coming: Life in Marietta During the Civil War

Three museums located off the Marietta Square will host a family day event entitled “The Yankees Are Coming: Life in Marietta During the Civil War,” on Saturday March 26, 2011 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Regular museum admission will be charged for this event. This is a rain or shine event.

The Marietta Museum of History, the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum and the Root House Museum (operated by Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society) will have special presentations, demonstrations and tours on March 26 to mark the beginning of their observance of the Civil War Sesquicentennial, which begins this year and runs through 2015.

The March 26 Family Day will feature a Civil War Home Front tour, cooking demonstration and period games at the Root House Museum, re-enactors portraying the experiences of soldiers at the Marietta Museum of History and a period music and dance demonstration at the Gone With the Wind Museum.
