'Guys and Dolls' Is Coming to Marietta

Atlanta Lyric Theatre will present the Broadway classic Guys and Dolls atThe Jennie T. Anderson Theatre at Cobb Civic Center, 548 S. Marietta Pkwy., Marietta, from Oct. 25 through Nov. 10.   

Bustling with gamblers, gangsters and sassy showgirls, Guys and Dolls celebrates Broadway’s golden era with a score by Frank Loesser, a book and lyrics by Joe Swerling and comedy legend Abe Burrows and Damon Runyon’s comic book world of 1940s Times Square New York City.

This production boasts an all-local cast of Atlanta stars, including Alan Kilpatrick as Nathan Detroit, Glenn Rainey as Nicely-Nicely Johnson,Lisa Manuli as Miss Adelaide, Jamie Wood Katz as Sarah Brown, Logan Denninghoff as Sky Masterson, Dustin Lewis as Benny Southstreet, Theo Harness as Arvide Abernathy, and Kayce Grogan-Wallace as General Matilda B. Cartwright.

The cast also features Brian D. Frey, Koby Parker, Monté J. Howell, Elizabeth Neidel Wexler, Austin Tijerina, Kathleen McCook, Priscilla Curtis, Becky Simmons, Fenner Eaddy, Jamey Hoge, Becca Potter, Bonnie Harris, Amy Alford, Zack Everhart, and John Michael Haas.

The creative team is led by Lyric Artistic Director Brandt Blocker and choreographer Karen Hebert, music director Paul Tate, scenic designer Lee Shiver-Cerone, costume designer Lindsey G. Paris, sound designer Bobby Johnston, and lighting designer Mary Parker.

Guys and Dolls features characters Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight “mission doll,” out to reform the evil-doers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her to Cuba on a bet and ends up falling in love; Miss Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she’s been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.
