Marietta Banjo Player Picks Up Contest Win

Rebekah Weiler topped the competition during the 10th-annual Southeastern Cowboy Gathering at the Booth Western Art Museum.

The Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville on Monday announced the winners from several competitions held during the 10th-annual Southeastern Cowboy Gathering held March 7-9.

Saturday afternoon, the museum hosted an Open Music Contest in the Booth Ballroom. Participants competed in five categories: Mandolin, Banjo, Guitar (flat picking), Junior Fiddle (under 18) and Open Fiddle.

Placing first in the Banjo category was Rebekah Weiler of Marietta.

The Southeastern Cowboy Gathering is designed to celebrate Western heritage and is am opportunity for residents of the Southeast to explore the West without leaving the South.

The Booth Western Art Museum, an Affiliate to the Smithsonian Institution, is a 120,000-square-foot museum located in Cartersville, where guests are invited to explore the American West through contemporary Western artwork.
