Marietta ChalkFest, Art in the Park Labor Day Weekend

The Cobb-Marietta Museum of Art will host a chalk festival during Labor Day weekend, featuring 20 professional chalk artists from around the country as well as a juried competition for locals.

Over Labor Day weekend (Aug. 31, Sept. 1 and 2), the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art will present its annual Marietta ChalkFest, a chalk art festival that will take place on Atlanta Street in front of the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art.

The festival, which was previously known as Chalk-It-Up, occurs in conjunction with Art in the Park.

This year, ChalkFest has been expanded to feature 20 contracted, professional chalk artists from around the country, who will draw on Atlanta Street Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of spectators.

Featured artists include chalk artists Ron Hawkins, Jennifer Chaparro, Dorothy Sabean and more.

"We are excited to be hosting another chalk event for the city of Marietta," Sally Macaulay, Executive Director of Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, said. "This year will be even better because ChalkFest has grown so much since last year. The streets will literally come alive with art."

All works created during ChalkFest will be completed at the end of Sunday, Sept. 1, and will be on display throughout the day on Monday, Sept. 2.
