Marietta Has Music Scene ... to Be Heard

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1. Marietta Square has a real sweet musical treat with Sweet Melissa Records, a great independent record store. Lots of vinyl, and they have added an audio listening room in house. You must drop in to see and let your ears experience music the way they did before the advent of digital music files and compact discs.

2. The Local at Sidelines offers their open Blues Jam on Thursday, hosted by blues enthusiasts The Cazanovas. Friday has The Coolin Board, which will make their debut performance at The Local. Saturday features the Liz Melendez Band, who is fronted by a lady whose guitar playing is passionate and has the strength of a giant. Her show is a benefit for Autism Speaks. Watch for her soon-to-released rockumentary by independent film company William Rich Films.

3. Glover Park is alive with music. Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. marks the last Brown Bag Lunch performance of the month. Beulah Land Gospel Band brings their acoustic styling of faith to a beautiful day in the park. 

On Friday, the second installment of the Glover Park Concert Series will fill the square with the party dance music of one of Atlanta’s premier party bands The Neons. They bring a diverse mix of favorites for both young and old alike.

4. Players Sports Bar and Cafe has the hard driving sounds of Knucklehead in house on Saturday night. This band thumps like a high performance cam!
