Music Scene Rocks and First Friday Art Walk on Tap

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1. This Friday is the First Friday Artwalk Marietta Square and is hosting yet another fabulous "Brew with a View." The art and music of the talented and nature-loving Oklahoma native, Linda Flournoy. Roger "Hurricane" Wilson & The Mars Hill Porch Pickers will be on deck for a night of fun, with an ambience like no other.

2. With 25 years of touring the world supporting our American soldiers, JB Walker and the Cheap Whiskey Band will be rolling into Players Sports Bar and Cafe for a night of hard driving, whiskey drinking, rock and roll from the world's most famous biker band. "Roll Hard" and "Ride On" JB!

3.The Highway Band is the house band on Saturdays in August at Hamby's Clocktower Tavern. This new place in town has delicious food and drink specials all week long, as well as dartboards, a pool table, and foosball. If you grew up around here, chances are you will walk in and be surrounded by familiar faces. Even if you didn't, it gives you that warm Southern hospitality that makes it fun for all.

4. Fred Meltzer is a talented musician, and he has many projects in the works. He plays percussion with The Fedora Blues Band, which just celebrated a new CD release. Meltzer is a mix of blues, rock, and jazz, with the ability to play multiple instruments. Tonight he will be solo at Whitlocks Bar and Grill. Word on the street is he may be tickling the ivories on the in-house baby grand piano.

5. Paddy's Irish Eatery has yummies for the tummy and hosts music for your listening pleasure. This Friday, The Kristen Tinsley Band, and on Saturday, Chameleon.
