Strand to Raise Money for the Cure

is teaming up with Susan G Komen for the Cure on Oct. 15 in honor of .

The Strand will be screening Moulin Rouge (PG-13), starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, with 50 percent of ticket proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“As a nonprofit, it’s easy to get caught up in your own fundraising needs, especially in this tough economy,” said Cassi Costoulas, the Strand’s director of business development and marketing, in a press release. “Although our fundraising is still in full force, the staff and board of the Strand believe strongly in being stewards of our community and giving back when possible.”

The first 100 guests to arrive and present their ticket will receive admission to the cupcake and coffee tasting. The tasting will be hosted on the Strand’s Top Level Event Room and is sponsored by Rev Coffee of Smyrna and Marietta’s .

Tickets are $10. The cupcake and coffee tasting begins at 7 p.m., immediately followed by the film at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
