Win Tickets to Hearts for Heroes IV to Honor, Remember Cobb’s 'Citizen Soldiers'

Hundreds will attend the annual event of song, testimonies and presentations to raise awareness for our troops and let them know we support them. See how you can enter to win a pair of tickets to the event!

The Marietta Museum of History and Patch want to offer you and a friend a special night out. We are giving away a pair of Strand tickets to March 1's Hearts for Heroes IV.

Entering this contest is easy. Just post a comment at the bottom of this article and tell us what your favorite thing to do in Cobb County is or share your thanks to our servicemen. Just a sentence or two will be fine.

For the fourth year, Marietta will celebrate, honor and remember local servicemen and wounded warriors with the Hearts for Heroes event at the Strand Theatre.

This year five of the cities in Cobb County will recognize and honor a “citizen soldier” for their service to their country and their community.

  • Acworth Honoree: Sgt. Jose Agosto; Award presented by: Mayor Tommy Allegood
  • Kennesaw Honoree: City Councilmember Tim Killingsworth; Award presented by: Mayor Mark Mathews
  • Marietta Honoree: Khanxay Souphom; Award presented by: Mayor Steve (Thunder) Tumlin
  • Powder Springs Honoree: Samatha Jordon; Award presented by: Mayor Patricia Vaughn
  • Smyrna Honoree: Thomas Bates; Award presented by: To Be Determined

Attendees will be treated to patriotic musical numbers by the Big Chicken Chorus as well as the stylings of country music artist Corey Crowder, who performed at the event last year.

The inspirational speakers for the evening will be three Medal of Honor recipients representing three different wars: Cpl. Hershel “Woody” Williams, World War II – Iwo Jima; Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston, Viet Nam War – Dai Do; and Sgt. Dakota Meyer, Afghan War – Kunar Province.

Residents of the community as well as local and state government leaders will attend to show their gratitude and respect for these individuals.

The Marietta Museum of History and its Aviation Wing will host the event and all proceeds benefit the museum. 

Entries for this contest must be submitted by Thursday, Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. The winner of the ticket giveaway will be notified by email. The winner can pick up the tickets at the box office the day of the show. The winner will need to have a photo ID to claim the tickets.

The event begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

Tickets for Hearts for Heroes IV can be purchased through the Earl Smith Strand Theatre box office at earlsmithstrand.org or 770-293-0080.

Cost: $30 per person for the Strand event; $125 per person for the Strand event with VIP seating and the VIP reception at the home of Governor and Mrs. Roy Barnes, transportation is included.
