Win Tickets to 'The Vegas Show'

The Strand stage will be transformed into a Vegas variety show with showstoppers and impersonators highlighting the talents of Elvis, Liberace, Dolly Parton, the Rat Pack, the Four Tops and more.

The and Patch want to offer you and a friend a special night out. We are giving away a pair of tickets to Thursday's opening night of The Vegas Show.

Entering this contest is easy. Just post a comment at the bottom of this article to tell us how many times you've gone to the Strand and what your favorite event was. Just a sentence or two will be fine.

You must get your entry in by 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 14.

We’ll conduct a random drawing from these entries for The Vegas Show performance March 15.

Boarding MARI-GA (as in Marietta, GA) Airlines, audience members will enjoy two fun-filled acts of sensory overload and over-the-top glitz as they “fly” into Sin City.

Featuring showgirls, singers, dancers and musical tributes to Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, the Temptations and many other Vegas legends, The Vegas Show is a high-energy, nonstop variety show showcasing the talent of local performers.

Included with the Vegas legends are modern pop tributes to artists such as Justin Bieber and Madonna.

All proceeds from the show will benefit the Strand and the Humane Society of Cobb County.

The winner of the ticket giveaway will be notified by email and can pick up the tickets at the box office the day of the show. The winner will need to have a photo ID to claim the tickets.

For more details about the performance, check out the website for the Strand Theatre.

I'm embarrassed to admit I've never been to the Strand!

OMG Susan! The Strand has a rooftop bar. It's one of the trendy places on Marietta Square. :-) Well, here's your chance!

I spent many a Saturday back in the 60's at the Strand. We would sit in the balcony all day and watch movies for $.25. I have not been back since then. That was THE place. Would love to see it again and relax and remember the good ole' days.

The Strand is a great part of Marietta. My father used to come to the Strand from Cartersville when he was a young man to see movies or shows. With all the great work that has gone into restoring it, the theater has that nostalgic appeal of what is great about old theaters and buildings. We've seen great shows there lately, including a highly energetic and fun Motown review back over the summer. Can't wait to see another show there!

We've been several times ! Various Sing-alongs, The Elephant Man, Movie showings, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show... and THAT was by far, the most entertaining! :))

I worked in Marietta for years and always said I would go and see a show at the Strand. Though I have never gone to the Strand I would look forward to seeing a great show like this at The Strand.

Can't say how many times, but the movie South Pacific was fun but then again so was the Pirate of Penzance - both great but for vastly different reasons. Loved the organ concert before South Pacific and I just love opera!

I have not yet been to the Strand but I am looking forward to possibly having an event there somethime in the near future. I am the Activities Director for Dogwood Forest of Marietta, which is an Assisted Living and memory care community. I look forward to taking my residents there on a trip someday. I am a huge Elvis fan and often book local Elvis impersonators Mark Pitt and Harold Shultz to come to the facility and perform for the seniors here. I am also a huge Michael Jackson fan. I have never been to Las Vegas either but hope to go there someday soon. I would love to come and see a show there soon. I have heard that the theatre is beautiful. I think that it is great that you were able to bring a little bit of history back for all to enjoy. My name is Jeanne Wells and my email is jeannewells67@comcast.net

My husband and I have been to The Strand several times, thoroughly enjoying each one! One New Year's Eve we came to the Billy Joe Royal show with our out-of-town guests -- what fun!!! Another one was "Leader of the Pack" which had us smiling and wanting to sing along with all the songs from our teenage years. Of course the patriotic shows, especially since my husband is a retired military veteran, were wonderful, too. We have never seen a show there that was not well done and enjoyable. The Vegas- style show, I'm sure, will be up to par with all the rest, and I would love to win tickets for it! Thanks for making The Strand a special place!

Good grief, if the rifle can kill someone, why on earth would you give it to a five-year-old? ThisRead More one just boggles my mind. I hope that even the NRA has a problem with this.
Fred Farkel May 13, 2013 at 01:19 pm
This is a fine example of freedom being too much to handle for some folks. The idiots who gave theRead More kid the gun should be jailed. Its obvious that a 5 year old should neither posses, nor handle a firearm period. Having said that I am a full supporter of the Second Amendment and the NRA. However we cannot measure the validity of the right to bear arms by using these idiot parents as a case study.
