Three Marietta Educators Earn Master Teacher Status

Chad Christman, a teacher at Marietta Middle School, and Michelle Chamberlain and Teresa Hutto, teachers at the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy, recently earned “Master Teacher” certification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

At the Sept. 17, meeting of the Board of Education of the City of Marietta, each teacher will receive a $1,000 check from the Marietta Schools Foundation for his or her accomplishment.

Selection as a Master Teacher highlights an educator who is "contributing to student achievement through exemplary teaching practices and has the skills, knowledge and aptitudes to serve as a model educator for other classroom teachers." 

Every year, Georgia recognizes its best teachers. These teachers earn a Master Teacher designation on their certificates, identifying them as educators who have positively influenced student achievement in the classroom.

Georgia’s Master Teacher Certification Program provides statewide recognition to certified public school teachers in Georgia who have at least three years of teaching experience and who consistently demonstrate instructional excellence through student achievement.
