Superior Metabolic Technologies' Uprizing 2.0 testosterone booster contains a synthetic steroid.

Superior Metabolic Technologies, Inc. of Marietta is voluntarily recalling all lots of its Uprizing 2.0 testosterone booster.

On Aug. 5 the Food and Drug Administration notified Superior Metabolic Technologies that Uprizing 2.0 contained a synthetic steroid called superdrol, which is banned by the FDA, according to an FDA press release. This led to the recall.

Uprizing 2.0 was sold through retail health food stores in Georgia, Alabama, Arizona, California, Mississippi, New Jersey, South Carolina and Texas.

Acute liver injury is a possible effect of using products containing synthetic anabolic steroids. Use of synthetic anabolic steroids may also cause shrinkage of the testes and male infertility, masculinization of women, breast enlargement in males, short stature in children, a higher prediction to misuse other drugs and alcohol, adverse effects on blood lipid levels and increased risk of heart attack, stroke and death.
