Eclectic Shopping with a Twist on Marietta Square

Take a look as we talk shopping, Marietta Square, parking and what makes Limelight unique with shop owner Susie Mauldin; and don't forget to share your opinions about the store and Marietta Square.

Limelight is “eclectic shopping with a twist.” Located in a shopping and dining district on Church Street, Limelight has been serving visitors to Marietta Square since opening on Jan. 1, 2009.

“Limelight is a vibrant shop filled with lots of goodies to choose from,” owner Susie Mauldin, of Marietta, said.

Mauldin has a history in small businesses. She has owned businesses in Marietta since 2002.  Prior to opening Limelight, she owned a gift and European antiques shop for seven years and before that she owned a print-based mail order business called Enchanted Gallery.

Patch: Where did you get the name?

SM: As I was trying to think of "the perfect name," my husband Greg suggested that I describe it.  So, I thought, "We are in the limelight of Marietta Square's shopping and dining districts...that's it —Limelight," and the rest is history.

Patch: What sets your shop apart from others of its kind?

SM: In addition to our diverse selection of gifts, our customer service sets us apart.  Our awesome team is genuinely happy that you have chosen Limelight as your shopping destination.  We always want our guests to feel this.

Patch: What is the hardest part of being a Marietta Square business?

SM:  The Square is a terrific destination that everyone loves to visit again and again— and we love that.  It's a very "small town" feel and funky electric vibe at the same time very unique. Shop owners here are very much like close neighbors. I'm really happy to be part of it.

Patch: Have you seen a change in traffic recently?

SM: The Farmer's Market every Saturday and the First Friday Art Walks are great draws for people—a terrific "excuse" to enjoy the Square.

Patch: Do you have a favorite item in the store right now?

SM: Gee, that's really difficult.  We have a fantastic selection of Vera Bradley and are always getting new goodies in as well as the Life is Good and Lilly Pulitzer lines.  That's really a tough question.

Patch: Is there anything else that you want readers to know about you and your shop?

SM: Yes, we really appreciate your business and that you have chosen to shop with us. We are always shopping for new goodies for you at comfy prices.  Be sure to check out our website, LimelightOnTheSquare.com, and Facebook “Limelight Marietta".

And there is always Free Parking after 4 p.m. and on the weekends in the two covered parking decks off Cherokee Street.
