Marietta Music Scene: It's Always Rocking

Come out for a weekend of great live music in Marietta.

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1. The Local at Sidelines at 1440 Roswell Rd. will kick off the party Friday night with Down for the Count, followed by New Computer, Koskee, which fuses punk rock, hardcore and southern rock, and the rock, electro, punk Atlanta band Board of Whores. The night of rock starts at 9 p.m. Ages 18 and up. On Saturday, Bounty Hunters, a blues/Southern rock band from La Fayette, will provide a mix of Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, ZZ Top and Molly Hatchett starting at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for ages 18 and up.

2. The Paper Mill Grill will bring guitar rock and pop to with David Payton from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. On Thursday, Jan. 26, join Kayla Taylor and Steve (a jazzy little duo that rocks) from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. as they entertain you with favorite jazz tunes from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Thursdays at Paper Mill Grill are always half-priced glasses of wine and half-priced martinis. Friday, Jan. 27, it's time for classic standards, pop, top 40, swing, soul, gospel and country with Keenan Blount. Saturday, Jan. 28, Brown and Taylor will be bringing blues and classics.

3. Brewsters Grille's Friday night Dart Tournament starts at 8 p.m. NoSweat will provide rock, heavy metal, blues from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. On Saturday, the Dean Balkwill Band will be out from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Sunday, come out for karaoke with Spirit Entertainment.

4. Darwins Burgers presents Andrew Black on Wednesday. For $5, you get a 1/3lb Angus beef burger and your choice of ice cold bottled beer. On Thursday, it's time for a Blues Jam. Friday it's Bobby Messano ($7 Cover). Saturday come out to see The Cazanovas ($5 cover).

5. Dixie Tavern will host Anthony Crane on Thursday. On Friday, 7 Sharp 9, a three-piece local band, brings its hard-driving originals to the venue. Pistol Town will play Saturday.
