Marietta’s July Unemployment Rate Higher than Cobb County Average
Of the city's 31,904-member labor force, 3,088 of the eligible workers were unemployed.
The Georgia Department of Labor released its local unemployment numbers earlier this week and while Marietta's rate was higher than that of Cobb County as a whole. County and city unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted.
In July, Marietta’s unemployment rate was 9.7 percent. Of the city’s 31,904-member labor force, 3,088 of the eligible workers were unemployed. The labor force is comprised of the portion of a population that is 16 or older that resides in a particular city.
Smyrna's July unemployment rate was 9.3 percent and Kennesaw's was 10.3 percent. GDOL only supplies unemployment rates for city's with populations larger than 50,000 so there's no data available about Acworth and Austell's unemployment rates.

Before seasonal adjustment, the state’s July unemployment rate was 9.7 percent. Cobb County’s July rate was 8.6 percent.
