Construction on the multi-million-dollar facility will begin soon, according to a press release. During the renovation, 50 contractors will be employed and NCG expects to create 40 to 50 regular part-time jobs, as well as several full-time management positions.

“We are shooting to open in the summer of 2012,” said NCG President Jeff Geiger. “NCG is excited to come to the Marietta community and to be an active participant in the revitalization of the Powder Springs corridor.  We are encouraged by the fabulous demographics and the improvements already made in the area.  Our new cinema will be a draw for the entire area and offer the nicest movie experience you will find anywhere in the nation.”

The new NCG Cinema Complex is one of many major developments to take place or announce in the Powder Springs Street redevelopment corridor in Marietta.  Wal-Mart is currently in permitting for a 41,000-square-foot Neighborhood Market, which will be located across from the Cinema.

A is being constructed near the Cinema site, a multi-use trail is being built connecting the area to neighborhoods as well as the Historic Square, and streetscape enhancements have begun, which include canopy and flowering trees, historic lighting, wide sidewalks, brick treatments, and landscaped medians.

The redevelopment of the corridor began with the creation of the Powder Springs Street Master Plan. The subsequent passage of a design overlay district for portions of Powder Springs Street and the designation of an Opportunity Zone encourages private investment and job creation for the area.
