The edgy atmosphere of provides a cool, fun setting for an afterwork dinner or a night out with friends. Simpatico serves only dinner. It was relatively quiet on the Thursday evening I was there.
Service: The employees are very welcoming and chatty. The food came impressively fast. One thing I liked about this restaurant was that all the servers, whether they were mine or not, were helpful and inquired whether I needed anything.
Food: Oysters Lomi Lomi, Tomato Rustica, Ravioli, Spring Rolls, Rock Shrimp Cakes and more—there are a variety of appetizers from $5.95 to $9.95. In addition to the Classic Caesar Salad, Simpatico serves a Bistro Salad and Sesame Seaweed Salad.
Chicken, meat loaf, ravioli, shrimp, pork tenderloin, lamb, beef tenderloin, fish and more. The entrees average between $15 and $25.
The Bacon Wrapped Shrimp over Saffron Risotto is a popular dish at Simpatico. The flavorful entree is wild Gulf shrimp wrapped in applewood smoked bacon, oven roasted and served over saffron risotto with a light lemon reduction sauce. $19.95
Cioppino is a new item to the menu at Simpatico and my number one recommendation for the restaurant. It is a San Francisco-inspired stew of jumbo shrimp, Maine scallops, mussels and fish, served with crusty ciabatta bread. The spicy dish was a large, filling serving. The shrimp was fresh and well seasoned. I love shrimp and this was some of the best I've had in a while. The broth was a wonderful mix of parsley, peppers, celery and onions with a satisfying aftertaste. You can taste all the flavors of this dish without being overwhelmed by any of them. There is a new taste to discover in every bite. The only downside to this dish is that the pieces of fish need to be cut up as they are rather large. $17.95
Desserts: The dessert menu changes, but they had a peach cranberry cobbler when I was there. This dessert was a home run. It was fresh, flavorful and homemade. The thick, crumbled crust was amazing. The dessert was big enough to split between two.
Bottom Line: Simpatico is a fun, hip restaurant on Marietta Square with an exciting, fresh, spicy and flavorful menu.
