Strand Call-A-Thon Aims to Raise $50,000 in 12 Hours

Money raised will go toward the Friends of the Strand's Capital Campaign, which covers the renovation costs of re-opening the Strand in 2009. The call-a-thon will be the first event in a fundraising push to support the Strand's continued success.

The will be kicking off its 2012 fundraising campaign with the First Annual Strand Call-a-thon on Wednesday, a 12-hour fundraising event complete with an open house and live entertainment.

The goal is to raise $50,000 in one 12-hour push.

Members of the Friends of the Strand Board will be manning the phone bank on the Strand stage from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., while performance sets take place in front of them at the top of every hour.

The event will be free and open to the public and will also be broadcast live over the internet at www.ustream.tv/channel/strand-theatre.

Thanks to conservative budgeting and support from the community, the Capital Campaign is on track to retire the renovation construction loan within the next few years, according the theater.

The First Annual Strand Call-a-Thon will be the first event in a 2012 fundraising push to support the Strand’s continued success.

Performing at the Call-a-Thon will be local artists including Dustin Barclay, Chad Yochum, Travis Cottle, Ron Carter, Daniel Hilton, Allison Michalkeand more. Performances are 15 to 20 minutes at the top of the hour.

The entire Strand facility will be open all day for patrons to tour the facility and drop in the auditorium to watch the performances.
