Veterans Career Fair Thursday in Marietta

The Georgia Department of Labor and SolidHires will co-sponsor "Meal and Meet," a hiring symposium and career fair for veterans on Thursday, Nov. 14, in Marietta.

The Georgia Department of Labor and SolidHires will co-sponsor “Meal and Meet,” a hiring symposium and career fair for veterans on Thursday, Nov. 14, in Marietta.

The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at VFW Post 2681, located at 140 Powers Ferry Road in Marietta.

“Meal and Meet” will feature a number of employers and resource agencies that provide assistance to veterans, active duty military personnel and their spouses.

Employers will be hiring or discussing current and future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide additional resources.

Workshops provided at the event include:

  • personal branding/social media,
  • resume-writing assistance,
  • interviewing, and
  • hands-on training.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Applicants should bring their military identification cards and plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.

Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment.

Those expected to participate in the expo include: AFLAC, America’s Thrift, Art Institute of Atlanta, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Airlines, EZ Corp, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Homeowners Employment Group, Premier Virtual Concepts, Primerica, Regions Bank, Vet Center, and Visalus.

State Farm will provide a free financial planning workshop; Grand Canyon University will provide a free military transcript evaluation; and Mary Kay will offer makeovers for female spouses and military members.
