The Wait for a diagnosis (entry from August 24, 2012)

Scared-Well, my appointment with my doctor can't get here soon enough! I spent the weekend in complete and utter fear.

I felt a lump on my breast about 3 weeks before. I had just made an appointment for my mammogram screening, so I didn't really say anything to anyone, including the dr. I went in for the screening on August 13th, 2012. The tech that was doing it was very concerned that I had not called my dr, but she did the screening anyway. When I left, I called Dr. Pitcher, my gynocologist. She wanted to see me in her office as soon as she could. I went in and she was very concerned, after feeling the lump. She referred me to a specialist at the Breast Center. They could not see me until the following Monday. So, hince the title of this blog....I spent all weekend and a full week in fear. I have been scared before, like when my oldest daughter, Kristi had her seizure or when I saw my youngest daughter Brittany wreck the 4wheeler. But never a fear that last this long. I went to Dr. Robbins at the Breast Center on Monday, and found out this lump is a solid mass. She did another mammogram and an ultrasound. She wanted to schedule a biopsy and I said "No, do it today, I can't wait any longer." So she scheduled the biopsy for later that afternoon and did the biopsy on Monday afternoon. Then we had to wait till Friday to see if it is cancer.

That time came, Friday August 24th 2012, at 11:30am.
I have absolutely the best support system and an army behind me to get through this, so we will!  My best friend, Kim stayed by my side all Monday and went to the appointment with me. She is truly a blessing in my life, as is Cissy, my other friend and cancer survivor.  The hole in my boob was a little sore, but it is the shoulder, that was already injured. It did not like the position it was in on the table. I was supposed to have shoulder surgery on August 29th, but that was promptly cancelled.

I am going to stay upbeat and positive and surround myself with people I love! This to shall pass!
Ok, so by now everyone knows that this is cancer. You might also know, if you know me....this ain't gonna get me down. I am strong and I got it from the strongest woman I know- my mama!! I started a blog to keep my friends posted, but quickly learned that I was really helping other people.
Next step is the MRI, that will tell more, so continues the wait.........

(I am re-posting my original blog www.adventuresoftraci.blogspot.com here, but if you are impatient, like me, and can't wait for me to re-write and re-post, you can jump over there and read the full year of happenings.) The picture below is me waiting, with a fake smile, to get my diagnosis.
