Adoption Fee Waived for Senior Cats

In an act of kindness, Cobb County Animal Control has waived the adoption fee for senior cats in the next two weeks. All that is needed now are loving homes.

Can it be that hearts are softening at the Cobb County Animal Control shelter? I hope so. Word came last night that the fee for senior cats, who don’t stand much of a chance for adoption anyway, but especially during kitten season, will be waived for two weeks. These seniors (7 years and older) are spayed/neutered, up to date on their shots, and have tested negative for the various feline viruses.

What an opportunity to adopt a friend and to support the shelter for stepping out of the norm to save lives. These wonderful animals have been abandoned for no reason of their doing; like the economy, and possibly because of it, they have fallen on hard times.

Contact me for more details (via ‘email the author’) if you are interested in adopting a senior cat. Please support the shelter for this act of kindness.

I've posted photos of three of the senior cats available at the shelter. There are more...come out and have a look.

Vet Tip of the Week

Feline heartworm disease, transmitted through the bite of a mosquito, is treatable in dogs but is fatal in cats. Keeping kitty indoors will not protect it. The only sure protection is with a 30-day heartworm preventative obtained through your veterinarian.

Symptoms include:

  • chronic respiratory disease (similar to asthma)
  • heart disease
  • sudden death

Keep your feline friend protected from this deadly parasite. Talk to your veterinarian about feline heartworm prevention today.
