Comment on Cobb County 2011 Budget

As if Cobb County residents don't have enough to espouse their views about, county officials actively solicit your thoughts on the 2011 budget. This invite tops the 5 Things today.

1. Not sure if Cobb County residents need a formal invitation before they jump in with their viewpoints, but here's the official invite from the county to comment on its 2011 budget. The site includes a video presentation from and a draft budget.

2. Registration has been extended for the 21st annual Cobb County Senior Games, which will be held at locations around the county from April 14 through May 13. The competition, open to residents ages 50 and older, includes everything from golf, swimming, tennis and track to chess, apple peeling, hog calling and horseshoes.

3. Registration for spring and summer events at Marietta's Elizabeth Porter Recreation Center begins this week. Programs including basketball, roller skating, running and other activities are available. For information, visit this city site or call 770-794-5630.

4. 's Worship Arts Ministries takes a visit to our neighbor to the south when it presents its 2011 Spring Production of "Facelift." This clever "extreme makeover" features dance, mime, step, pageantry and African drums.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for students, senior citizens and individuals in groups of 10 or more. The program will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Livingston Auditorium at Campbell High School, 5265 Ward St., Smyrna. For information, call 404-822-5731 or send an e-mail to ariscocan@aol.com.
