County Schools Chair Holds Town Meeting at Osborne High

Alison Bartlett's first town meeting following contentious debate over school calendars, leadership and budgets tops The 5 Things for today.

1. Alison Bartlett, chairwoman of the , will hold a town meeting at 6 p.m. today at Osborne High School. As with any county school board meeting of late, you can expect fireworks. And you can expect Marietta Patch to be there providing live coverage, so come back tonight for on-the-spot reports.

2. The Cobb Community Relations Council this week announced its recipients of the first-ever Creating Community Awards, a new program designed to promote positive relations and inclusion in Cobb County. A recipient for each district of the county was chosen.

The recipients include: Intellectual Diversity Club of in District One; Georgia Ballet in District Two; Temple Kol Emeth in District Three; and /Cobb Symphony Orchestra and Chorus/Dr. Oral Moses in District Four.

3. 's Training Lab Facility remains the place to be for environmental and horticulture training. The latest seminar to be hosted there is one on growing blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. 4. For you civic duty enjoyment today, consider sitting in on Cobb Libertarian Party meeting at 's council chambers. Party members meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and then head to for more socializing. The party is actively seeking candidates for office, so your political aspirations are only a meeting away!
