DuPre Antique Market Debuts Art Forum

The launch of another art venue at Marietta Square tops The 5 Things for today.

1. Local art has found another venue in Historic Downtown Marietta. at 17 Whitlock Ave. will unveil a new art forum at the longstanding antique establishment from 5 to 9 p.m. today. New owner Mike Barie hosts the grand opening. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. Call 770-428-2667 for information.

2.  The hit Broadway musical "Leader of the Pack" makes its debut at 8 p.m. tonight. This revue, produced by the Atlanta Lyric Theatre, celebrates the life of Ellie Greenwich and details her path to fame and fortune with her songs including the title song, "Chapel of Love," "Da Do Ron Ron," "Be My Baby," "Hanky Panky," Do Wah Diddy," "And Then He Kissed Me" and "River Deep, Mountain High."

This musical plays at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday and continues through March 6. Tickets range from $27.50 to $48.70 and are available at atlantalyrictheatre.com. For information, visit the Web site or call 770-293-008.

3. Both the Marietta High boys and girls varsity basketball squads have clinched berths in the state tournament, but they still have plenty of basketball left in the regional 5AAAAA tournament at Etowah High School. The girls squad take on Walton High at 4:30 p.m., while the boys take on Walton at 8:30 p.m. Go Blue Devils!

4. Apparently it's not too early to think about your floats or displays for Marietta's Fourth of July Parade this year. The city this week opened up the application process for school bands, military units, civic groups, beauty queens, scouts, local businesses and others to be part of one of the city's biggest celebrations.
