Glover Park Fountain Bama Bound!

Marietta City and Robinson Iron crews this morning dismantled the rusted Madison Square centerpiece for a complete overhaul.

As Marietta city crews prepped the Glover Park fountain for the spring season, they couldn't figure out why brownish water kept flowing over the bowls. Even when they changed the chlorinated water, it would eventually turn dark.

The reason: Interior rust...a lot of it.

This morning, crews from the city and from the original forger of the fountain, Robinson Iron of Alexander City, Ala., dismantled the structure so that it can be completely refurbished. The $7,500 project should complete with four to six weeks with the fountain returning in time for most events in April.
