Great Day for Trees, Football and Consignment in Marietta

Marietta Patch's The 5 Things has planned your day for you: Plant trees, shop some consignment, watch football and listen to the Cobb Symphony. You're welcome.

1. The Marietta Tree Keepers will plant trees at 8:30 a.m. today at , 510 Powder Springs St. Meet at the back of the clubhouse for transportation to the site on the grounds. Dress for the weather, which is expected to be cold.  Tools and gloves included. Donuts, hot chocolate and hot coffee provided.  In case of bad weather, call 770-424-4664 for weather updates and rain date.

2. Consignment sales will be held at both Jim Miller Park and . First United Methodist will hold its Lil Lambs Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the church's Family Life Hall. Visit www.mariettafumc.org/ or call 770-429-7800 for information.

Jim Miller Park will host the All 4 Kids Consignment Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today as well. Call 770-528-8875 for information.

3. The Marietta Hitman play its official home opener as part of the National Developmental League at 3 p.m. today at , 2451 Favor Road. The Hitman take on the Georgia Bandits, who are based in Flowery Branch. Tickets are $8. For information, send an e-mail to mariettahitmenpr@gmail.com.

4. The Cobb Symphony Orchestra performs at 8 p.m. at Kennesaw State University with two giants from the post-Romantic Russian school of composition: Dimitri Shostakovich's Symphony No.1 and Rachmaninoff's Symphony No.2.
