Marietta Firefighter Laid to Rest Today

Lonnie Nutt died Thursday, after collapsing during a call to an automobile accident on Whitlock Avenue.

Marietta Fire Fighter Engineer Lonnie Nutt's funeral is this morning in Marietta. Police are warning the public that traffic will be a problem while the funeral procession takes place.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church. A procession to Kennesaw Memorial on Whitlock Avenue will follow the this morning's service, Marietta Police Public Information Officer David Baldwin said.

Nutt died Thursday, after collapsing during a call to an automobile accident on Whitlock Avenue.

Nutt is believed to have been the first Marietta firefighter to die in the line of duty, according to The Marietta Daily Journal.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
