2. If you wish to get a 24-hour jump on municipality-sponsored fireworks displays, you could go north to neighboring Kennesaw. After the city’s open-air concert series features "a tribute to legends" with musical acts honoring performers ranging from Elton John and Billy Joel to the Eagles and Doobie Brothers, the concert concludes with a fireworks show. 3. Would you like to support the Cobb Police's K-9 unit? The department recently created an account that accepts donations. Funds from the account will go toward the replacement cost when a canine retires, veterinarian expenses and other expenses associated with the maintenance and well-being of the dogs. 4. The latest department featured on the City of Marietta Web site is the Historic Preservation Committee. Created by city ordinance and established in 2005, this committee of seven members representing each ward protects and enhances Marietta's historical and aesthetic attractions for tourists and visitors and provides protection and maintenance of places, buildings, structures, and works of art deemed to have special historic, architectural, cultural, or aesthetic interest or value.
