Thunderstorms Are On Their Way

The National Weather Service expects the system from the Midwest to exit Georgia by Saturday morning.

Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected across Cobb, Douglas and many other counties in North and Central Georgia this afternoon and evening. But Marietta officials hope the storms hold off at least until this evening and after the scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Laurel Park.

The system, which is coming from the Midwest, will also be bringing a cold front, according to the National Weather Service.

Along with damaging wind and frequent lightening, there are also possibilities for large hail and isolated tornadoes, the weather service says.
