Watershed Stewardship Volunteers Share Experiences

Volunteers who monitor and test streams and water supplies throughout the county share their stories at a special fair today. That tops The 5 Things for today.

1. The county's Watershed Stewardship Fair runs from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the at 662 South Cobb Drive. This annual recognition event allows watershed volunteers in Cobb County to share their experiences with other members of the community.Β  Representatives from Georgia Adopt-A-Stream and the Upper Etowah River Alliance will attend. The fair is followed by a laboratory tour at 6:30 p.m. To attend send an e-mail to water_RSVP@cobbcounty.org.

2. The East Cobb Senior Center is presenting Biography– Life Stories through Time: Eleanor Roosevelt from 10 a.m. to noon. This Women's History Month event is free but requires registration. For information, call the East Cobb Senior Center, 3332 Sandy Plains Road, at 770-509-4900.

3. For your civic duty enjoyment, the Marietta City Council committees meet at 5:15 p.m. today at Marietta City Hall followed by a special called work session. The county Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Board of Commissioners Room at 100 Cherokee St.

4. Marietta has taken a leading role in restricting , so many residents might be interested in a one-day summit at Georgia State University focusing on prescription drug abuse. The summit will take place at the university's Student Center located at 44 Courtland St. in Atlanta.Β  Presentations will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:45 p.m.
