Citizens for Governmental Transparency Hosts Last Cobb Co. Commission Candidate Forum Thursday, May 15th

Five days before the 2014 Primary Election, Cobb Citizens for Governmental Transparency (CGT), a group of organizations representing a diverse cross section of Cobb residents, will host a Cobb Commission Candidate Forum,  Thursday evening, May 15, 7-9 p.m., in the meeting room of the Cobb County Board of  Commissioners building, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.  Providing a last look, the group standing firmly on the will of the people, have confirmed  Cobb Commission Candidates: District -1(Formerly Goreham) vacating her post, W. “W” Byrne, Derrick Crump, Glenn Melson, and Scott Tucker.  From District 3 -  Michael Opitz, and Joseph Pond.   At press time, no response from District 3's JoAnn K. Birrell (Incumbent), District 1's  Angela Barner and Robert “Bob” Weatherford. All candidates were invited.
Coming full-circle from the November 2013 Braves' vote, CGT has mobilized its diverse organizations for direct action and engaging more proactively in the political process.  Additionally, CGT has established more collaborations with citizen voice groups across the metro area to challenge the accountability of representation.  Now comes the opportunity to present candidates to the people for questions on issues and hear from them, how they will serve if elected.
The time is now for citizens to know before they go to the polls as as they vote advance and early until Election Day, May 20, 2014.  The CGT Cobb Commission Candidate Forum is presenting that opportunity for an empowered electorate to decide on accountable and transparent representation.
 CGT is comprised of local and national diverse organizations of support, which have coalesced for governmental transparency.  ###
