Henley on the Hooch

Have you ever wondered about the sport of Rowing and Crew? If so come on out Saturday, November 9th, 2013 to the Chattahoochee River at the Azalea Park on Azalea Drive in Roswell, GA for the Henley on the Hooch!

Atlanta's two rowing powerhouses, the Atlanta Junior Rowing Association (AJRA) and their friendly rival the St. Andrews Rowing Club, will be competing for bragging rights as to which club has the best junior rowing club in Atlanta.Β

The action starts at 8:00 am and races continue until approximately noon with the winning team being awarded the Coaches Cup. AJRA has prevailed in the competition the last nine consecutive years. The race was started in 1996 and gets its name from the famed British Henley Regatta - the longest running sporting event in the world. The event celebrates the end of the fall rowing season and is always excellent competition.Β

AJRA was founded over 25 years ago and today trains well over 100 high school and middle school students from all over the Atlanta metro area. We invite all of the public out to the river to enjoy the races, learn more about the sport and perhaps sign up to join us in the Spring of 2014 to row on the river.
