Marietta ChalkFest

The Marietta ChalkFest is a chalk
art festival previously known as Chalk-It-Up, which occurs in conjunction with Art in the Park. It will feature 20 contracted, professional chalk artists from around the country, who will draw on Atlanta Street during August 31 and September 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of spectators. All works created during ChalkFest will be completed at the end of Sunday, September 1, and will be on display throughout the day on Monday, September 2.

Saturday, August 31, artists of all ages are invited to participate in our annual juried chalk competition. Participants will have the opportunity to create original chalk works in randomly selected sidewalk squares. 2013 will offer both a youth division and an adult division: Cash prizes in the adult division total $650, and $35 in gift cards will be distributed as prizes for the youth division. Interested participants can contact Katie Bush, 770 528 1444 x16, Education@MariettaCobbArtMuseum.org

Admission to Marietta/Cobb Museum
of Art will be free during Marietta ChalkFest. The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art
Yarn Bomb, a community made large scale art installation, will also be on
display on the front of the building during Marietta ChalkFest.

“We are excited to be hosting another chalk event for the
city of Marietta”, says Sally Macaulay, Executive Director of Marietta/Cobb
Museum of Art. “This year will be even better because ChalkFest has grown so
much since last year. The streets will literally come alive with art.”
