“Idyll Game,” the theme of this new series of paintings by Stanford Ashcraft, is a playful satire of romance and luxury. Chess pieces, model ships, and elegant costumes appear in these artworks that blend magic and reality with fun and charm. Influenced by 19th century masters, the surrealists, and classic storybooks, Ashcraft adds his own touch with his very unique painting technique. His images are painted exclusively with razor blades. The opening reception will be held Friday, July 5, from 5-9pm during the Marietta Art Walk. An additional reception will be held Friday, August 2, from 5-9pm. Regular gallery hours are Wed.-Sat.,11am-6pm.
