Support Sick Dog Through GoFundMe

The owner of a golden retriever diagnosed with Spindle Cell Neoplasm is trying to raise funds for treatment.

Earlier this week, Georgia Patches ran stories with links to fund-raising campaigns in the metro area on GoFundMe, a website which is a Patch partner.

Now is a good time to provide an update on a campaign in this neighborhood -- the effort to raise funds for surgery, sedation and radiation treatment for three-year-old golden retriever Oakley, who was diagnosed with Spindle Cell Neoplasm, "a cancerous tumor on his head above his left eye."

"Oakley is still playful Oakley and is in zero pain, however, I know the time will come down the road if i cannot get him the treatment he needs. It is like he has no idea that there is anything wrong. I love my dog more than anything and it has always been us," owner Tim Bell wrote.

As of Thursday afternoon, $2,440 had been raised of a $7,000 goal on a GoFundMe page.

"
Right now, I am an Honorably discharged Marine in college and, believe it or not, he has helped me get to where i am today," Bell wrote.
