Bedside Alarm Alerts Deaf, Hard of Hearing of Fire

If you live in Marietta and have trouble hearing the high-pitched tones of regular smoke alarms, you may qualify for the Marietta Fire Department's free bedside smoke alarm program.

If you live in Marietta and have trouble hearing the high-pitched tones of regular smoke alarms, you may qualify for the Marietta Fire Department's free bedside smoke alarm program that alerts for a fire in your house.

How Lifetone Bedside Alarm Works

  • Initiated by sound of ordinary smoke detector
  • Visually flashes word "fire" on display
  • Emits low-tone frequency alarm that has been proven most effective at waking people who are hard of hearing
  • Bed shaker: placed between mattress and mattress pad

As part of the fire department's home safety inspection program for the deaf and hard of hearing, Marietta firefighters will provide and install a bedside alarm.
