Who says Halloween is just for kids? Well, they were wrong! Adults love Halloween too, and this is the one holiday that has a tendency to make grown-ups act, well, not so grown-up. Even adults can get caught up in this season of sugary treats...stealing from your child's Halloween goody bag. We're ALL guilty!
Be sure to go through your child's candy, not only for safety reasons but to pull the really BAD pieces...the ones with too much sugar and trans fatty acides. THROW IT OUT...donate it...get rid of at least 50% of it! It's just too tempting having it in the house.
If you must indulge, go for the "dark" chocolate candies that are heart healthy and rich in antioxidants (kids don't like those anyway, they'll never miss it) or the "thin" sizes with half the calories. Practice the 80-20 rule of eating. Eat healthy 80% of the time and allow yourself to fall off the health wagon 20% of the time. By doing so, you will avoid temptation and feelings of deprivation that can lead to future food binges.
Just remember, let your inner child out, it's good for you...and have a fun, safe SPOOKTAKULAR Halloween!
