Integrity and Experience are Important Traits for Cobb's Clerk of Superior Court

Experience and Integrity are Essential for Cobb's Clerk of Superior Court

The Cobb County Clerk of Superior Court handled over 175,000 records in 2011.  The proper indexing and presentation of these records is critical to not only the citizens of Cobb County, but all the potential users of these records.  I began my professional career in the file room at the Cobb County Clerk of Superior Court in 1990.  I continued to work there each successive summer through the end of law school in 1996 with the exception of 1995, when I worked in the Cherokee County District Attorney's office.

During my summers and holidays with the Clerk's Office, I learned a great deal about the operation of the office and what it takes to be a productive employee in the Clerk's Office.  Now that I am running to replace the current Clerk, Jay C. Stephenson, who is retiring after 28 years of service to Cobb County, I intend to use my experience as a former employee and 12-year user of the office as an attorney in Marietta to continue the levels of excellence in the Cobb County Clerk of Superior Court's office.

The Clerk's Office also acts as a bank for the Superior Court and handles over $50 million of other people's money each year in the form of bonds, fine payments and payments into the registry of the Court.  The Clerk is charged with accounting for all these monies.  Anything less than the highest level of integrity in Cobb County's Clerk of Superior Court could result in embarrassment to the community.

The current Chief Deputy Clerk, Elva P. Dornbusch, is running with me in my campaign.  She has worked tirelessly over the last 14 years to provide the citizens of Cobb County with the best in available records and customer service for the public who use the office daily.  She will contribute her expansive base of knowledge to our team as we move ahead with efforts to keep the records of the Superior Court in Cobb County easily available to the public and improve upon the services already provided, such as civil and criminal records available on line and ready to be printed out for no cost and real estate records that have been available on-line since 1999 and are free to reproduce either by download or printing.

With our combined experience in the Office over the past two decades, I believe that Elva and I will best serve the citizens of Cobb County in the Clerk's Office.  The Republican Primary is July 31.
