College Goal Sunday February 16, 2014

Preparing for college does not start in your senior year of high school. Preparing for college starts as early as your child being in middle school.  Exploring options for life after high school starts as early as middle school.  A child can take courses that will prepare them for technical school or attending college.  Did you know that most technical school programs require less than two years of study and can lead to careers paying over $40,000 a year. Also Hope grants are available for Georgia residents to attend a technical school. As long as you are a resident at least one year regardless of age or Grade Point Average can qualify for a HOPE Grant. Planning early for life after high school can save you money .For example a student enters technical school at age 18. The student use the HOPE grant to pay for technical school. Technical school programs ranges from LPN, medical assistant, respiratory therapist,  child care teachers, HVAC technicians, Auto mechanics, to name just a few. A student may finish the program by age 21, then start working in their field and go on and pursue a bachelor degree at the same time while earning a decent living and then can use their HOPE scholarship pay for tuition. Technical school options bring hope to students who are just not ready at age 18 to start a bachelor program.
