Canvas: A Convenient, Welcoming, Tasty Cafe

Conveniently located near Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Canvas Cafe serves a range of breakfast, lunch and snack items as well as beverages.

has an open, sunny setting with plenty of seating. Whether stopping in for breakfast, lunch or a snack you won't be disappointed.

Service: Canvas is located near and has the steady business to prove it. While the restaurant is typically busy, the service is not excessively slow. There is often a wait, but it is not a long one. The service is friendly and welcoming.

Coffee: Lattes, mocha, cappuccino, light roast, dark roast, cafe au lait—you know the drill. The vanilla latte was on the strong side, which can be just what you want depending on the morning. It was a creamy and satisfying drink and a good start to the day.

Food: The prices are reasonable. The sandwiches, burgers and salads are filling.

Breakfast items include eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, sandwiches, bagels, muffins, fruit, grits, biscuits and gravy and more. The croissant sandwich includes your choice of any style of egg; applewood bacon, ham or sage sausage; and American, Swiss or Cheddar cheese with a side of grits for $5.77. The croissant was on the greasy side and a little overly toasted, but the egg and sausage were tasty. Overall, the sandwich was a filling breakfast.

Lunch: Burgers; reuben, Thai red curry, BLT, southwest turkey, pimento cheese, grilled cheese and other sandwiches; soups; and Caesar, Asian Chicken, Cobb and more salads make up the menu.

The BLT came out warm. The sandwich was large and average in price ($8.27). Four pieces of crisp Applewood Bacon, green leaf lettuce and sliced vine ripe tomato with Scallion Mayo. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, and the bacon was crispy.

Pastries: While the cupcakes were okay, they wouldn't be my choice in Marietta. They were on the sugary side. There is, however, a wide range of available cupcakes: red velvet, lemon, chocolate p-nut butter, german chocolate, buttermilk chocolate, yellow butter cake, chocolate peppermint, coconut and banana chocolate.

The cookies were very moist and fresh. Choices include chocolate chip (with a lot of chips), mudslide, chocolate p-nut chip, oatmeal raisin, p-nut butter, Snickerdoodle, chocolate cherry, turtle, black walnut, frosted and white-chocolate macadamia.

Bottom Line: A friendly environment, filling servings, satisfying and tasty food, and welcoming service—Canvas Cafe is a treat.
