SEC on TV: South Carolina Gauntlet Continues vs. Florida

Checking this weekend's football action.

Talk about Murderer's Row. The South Carolina Gamecocks (6-1, 4-1) will continue to test some top SEC competition Saturday when they travel to Gainesville, Fla., to test the Florida Gators. (Game time: 3:30 p.m., CBS).

Just two weeks ago, the Gamecocks trounced then-No. 5 Georgia, 35-7. Last Saturday, Steve Spurrier's crew came close but fell 23-21 to now-No. 6 LSU. Now come the No. 3 (in AP) Gators, who bested LSU two weeks ago.

UGA still has to face Florida (6-0, 5-0), so a Gators victory Saturday would help any chances the Bulldogs might have of an SEC East title. That would give the Gamecocks two SEC losses, and Georgia would control its own destiny vs. the Gators in Gainesville on Oct. 27. (The plot is always thickening in the SEC, eh?). Of course, that is conditional on Georgia beating Kentucky this week.

But it won't be easy. The last time these teams met in the Swamp, Carolina's Marcus Lattimore ran for 212 yards and three TDs in a 36-14 victory in 2010.

β€œHe's one of those backs that can pretty much do it all,” Florida middle linebacker Jon Bostic said of Lattimore in the Gainesville Sun.
