Cobb Police say a man and woman were discovered with gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide on Post Oak Tritt Road Wednesday.

Updated, 2:20 p.m., Dec. 19, 2013

Cobb Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce has just sent out word that the department's Crimes Against Persons Unit is initially ruling the case to be a murder-suicide.

However, Pierce said the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office is still to determine the manner and cause of death.

Original report:

Cobb Police are investigating the deaths of two people at an East Cobb home on Wednesday afternoon.

Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a statement released just before 8 this morning that the bodies of Sherrie Newton, 43, and Bryan Bunch, 26, were discovered around 5:30 p.m. yesterday at a residence in the 3700 block of Post Oak Tritt Road.

Both died of apparent gunshot wounds, Pierce said, and there was no immediate information on how they may have been related or known each other.

An address check showed Newton was listed as a resident and/or homeowner of the home in which she died. That area of Post Oak Tritt is west of Johnson Ferry Road and near Hightower Trail Middle School.

Pierce said anyone with information about the incident should call Cobb Police at 770-499-3945.
