Arrest Made in Marietta Hijacking

Online jail records indicate she was just released from the county jail June 12 on a charge of false statements or writings.

Four months after a man was forced from his BMW at gunpoint, a Marietta woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and a warrant has been issued for a California man whose fingerprints were found in the car.

Between 12:10 and 12:23 a.m. Feb. 18, Karen Lizabeth Cremeans allegedly flagged the BMW down and convinced the driver to follow her to the Autumn View Apartments at 1035 Franklin Rd., according to a Cobb County arrest warrant.

Cremeans allegedly got out of her car, approached the 2001 Black BMW 740 and distracted the driver, "allowing for her co-conspirators to approach said victim unnoticed," according to the warrant.

One of the two co-conspirators allegedly produced a handgun, forced the man out of the BMW and stole his wallet, cell phone, driver's license, $4,000 Bulgari watch, credit cards, and cash, records show. The suspect drove away in the man's car, and Cremeans followed the stolen BMW in her own vehicle.

The BMW was found March 3 on Massachusetts Avenue. Fingerprints lifted from the driver's side door and above the door handle matched Anthony Wayne McCoy of Stockton, Calif., who allegedly told authorities in a phone call that he got the car and phone from Cremeans.

Cremeans allegedly admitted that she flagged the BMW down and convinced the driver to follow her, according to the warrant.

She was arrested Thursday on charges of hijacking a motor vehicle and armed robbery. She remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond. Online jail records indicate she was just released from the county jail June 12 on a charge of false statements or writings.

McCoy is still at-large. He faces a charge of theft by receiving.
