Canton Man Killed Walking across I-75

A truck strikes a man as he tries to cross I-75 near North Marietta Parkway and the Canton Road Connector in the early morning hours.

Marietta police say a 25-year-old Canton man was struck by a truck and killed as he attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Canton Road early this morning.

According to police reports, Andre Blickenstaff of Canton was attempting to cross Interstate 75 between North Marietta Parkway and the Canton Road Connector when he was struck by a red 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Charles Severtson, 50, of Dallas. Severtson stopped and called 911. Blickenstaff was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said no charges are expected against Severtson, and investigators are looking into why Blickenstaff was crossing the interstate.
