Children Left Alone in Marietta

Their father was arrested Friday.

A Marietta man is accused of leaving his three children alone at night.

Marietta police arrested Corey Dennis Wilks Friday night on charges that include three counts of cruelty to children in the first degree.

According to a Cobb County criminal warrant, Wilks was the sole caregiver of the juveniles because the children's mother was out of town. The oldest boy is 6 years old. The youngest is 1 year old.

Wilks was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, and Fulton County authorities initially placed a hold on his release. Online jail records there indicate Wilks was arrested in August 2008 on a charge of theft by taking.

Despite the hold in Fulton, he was released Monday from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
