Cobb Police Catch Teen After Slaying

A 16-year-old boy is charged in the shooting death of 13-year-old in Marietta trailer park.

Cobb police arrested Oscar Mondragon about 6 p.m. today after finding him hiding in a trailer at the Edengate Mobile Home Park in the 200 block of Clay Drive in Marietta.

Mondragon is charged as an adult with felony murder and aggravated assault, as well as possession of a firearm by a minor. He is being held at the Marietta Youth Detention Center.

Participating in the manhunt since Thursday night were Precinct 3 officers and the Precinct 3 Criminal Investigations Unit, the Tactical Squad, the Violent Incident Prevention and Early Response Unit, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Squad, the Cobb police Organized Crime Unit and the Cobb Anti-Gang Enforcement Unit.

Cobb County police are on the hunt for a teenage boy who they believe killed a 13-year-old boy at a trailer park Thursday evening.

The police ask for help in locating Oscar Mondragon, 16. Outstanding arrest warrants for him include charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a minor.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that a neighbor said the suspect and 13-year-old are related and that the victim was a student at. Mondragon is a former student, according to neighbors.

At 9:24 p.m. Thursday, the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit was called to investigate a killing at 1101 Eastside Drive, south of Marietta. A 911 call had alerted police of a possible shooting inside a trailer at the Eastside Mobile Home Park. Police found the 13-year-old's body inside.

Police stress that Mondragon is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information about him is asked to call 911 or the Crimes Against Persons Unit at 770-499-3945.
