Dog Tossed From Marietta Balcony

The "dog's legs were rendered useless by the accused's action," police said.

A man allegedly snapped when his dog misbehaved, threw the pet from a second-story balcony at the Allround Suites in Marietta and tossed the injured dog in the Dumpster.

A Cobb County arrest warrant does not specify what the dog did, only that the "dog behaved in a manner contrary to how the accused wished it to behave."

About 4:24 p.m. Thursday, Marcell Sibley allegedly slapped the dog and placed it a kennel inside room No. 253.

"Accused then carried the kennel, with dog inside, outside and threw the kennel/dog to the ground in the parking lot from the second story balcony," Marietta police said. "The kennel shattered upon hitting the ground and the dog was trapped in the debris."

Sibley went downstairs, picked up the kennel and the bloodied dog, and threw both in the Dumpster, according to the warrant.

"The dog was not active and would not move," police said. "The extent of injuries is yet to be determined. Dog's legs were rendered useless by the accused's action."

Sibley was arrested on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals. He was released Friday on a $10,000 bond.
