Driver Critically Injured in I-75 Crash

Speed and alcohol were likely factors, Marietta police told TV reporters.

A 27-year-old man is in critical condition at after he crashed on Interstate 75 in Marietta early today.

The man was driving a black 2007 Nissan Altima north on I-75 shortly after midnight when he clipped a Lincoln Town Car while changing lanes, CBS Atlanta reported.

The Altima went out of control and slammed into the median wall before stopping in the middle of the highway near the Canton Road Connector, 11Alive reported.

The crash shut down three lanes of northbound traffic, WSB-TV said.

Marietta police are still investigating the crash but believe that speed and alcohol were factors, 11Alive said.

Both the driver, who was not identified, and his 23-year-old passenger, Anna Mancini of Roswell, were taken to Kennestone, CBS Atlanta said. Mancini was in good condition, while the driver was in critical condition.

No one in the Town Car was injured.

Police ask anyone with information about the wreck to call Officer Geoff Culpepper at 770-794-5357.
