Driver Killed in Interstate 75 Accident

The accident blocked all lanes of traffic on the interstate and has caused significant traffic delays.

One man was killed in a traffic accident on Interstate 75 North near Barrett Parkway that saw significant traffic delays for commuters on Monday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Dana Pierce, at 4:14 p.m. Monday the driver of a car on Interstate 75 north at Barrett Parkway was being assisted by a HERO unit. Pierce said that the driver of the vehicle suffered a "medical issue" which caused him to leave the interstate.

The car drove off I-75 and landed in a ravine, where it caught fire. The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was killed.

The accident brought six lanes of traffic on Barrett Parkway to a halt and caused significant gridlock on Interstate 75.
