Drug Money Used to Expand Police Department

The new Marietta Police crime lab is triple the size of the original and was built with a mindset for the possibility of future growth.

Thee unveiled its new, state of the art crime lab Friday.        

The crime lab has been in the planning and development stages since January of 2010 and work began on the new facility in May, Marietta Police spokesman David Baldwin said in a press release.

The lab is almost triple the size of the original lab and includes state of the art equipment and advancements in technology that will allow technicians to process a wide variety of evidence in house instead of outsourcing.
